Comment i responded to.  @ResistanceChicks Money is a very interesting topic. Anything can be money as long as it's widely accepted as a means of exchange. And the value of gold and silver has fluctuated all over the place. It is favored by some because it's relatively more difficult to manipulate the value of a physical commodity compared to fiat paper. But gold or silver are no gaurantee of anything. It's just turning the money supply over to nature rather than humans. The value of those commodities could be upended overnight with the discovery of a huge deposit, or some technological advance that makes producing them trivial.
